The first video I chose to look at was this one posted after the BYU football game. If this were being used for educational purposes there would be a problem because more than 10% or 30 sec of Whitney Houston's song it being used in the background. And there was no citation anywhere in the movie for this song. However, I believe that the user was given permission to use the song because there is a link below this video where you can buy this song or search more songs by Whitney Houston. Because these clips were not taken by the person who posted this video there should have been a citation for where these clips were attained. If this were for education it would be okay if the video was legally attained because it is less than 10% or 3 minutes of the video. Also, who has the rights to Riley Nelson's hair? :)
This video was made by members of the BYU TV station. It would appear that they used music that was under creative commons. I can only assume that because it was a very unfamiliar song. If they did that would be something they did right. If the music is under copyright they should not have used it. I am also assuming that they had permission to use those clips from the BYU games because they were probably attained by BYU TV. There should have been a citation for those clips as well. But the core of the movie was footage that they took themselves and was therefore their own creative property.
